I began drawing as soon as I could hold a pencil. I've always loved animals
since I was very young so they were often my subject material. I can't
remember a time when I didn't draw. It is part of what makes me who I am.
As a young child, I started off emulating Disney characters as well as my own
works. I have taken art classes throughout my life, both through school and
through extracurricular activities. I took advanced art in 8th grade and
continued to take art in high school although it wasn't required to graduate.
When it came time to choose a major in college, I didn't have to think too hard
about what it would be. I graduated in May 2004 with a degree in Applied
Media Arts: Animation with minors in Spanish and Art History. Despite my
training as an animator, I enjoy drawing realistically as much as I enjoy drawing
cartoons. My current styles are influenced by many other artists and aren't so
much 'copies' of Disney characters anymore.
My favorite medium to work in is colored pencil. I never received training on
how to use them but developed my own style by experimentation over the
years. I also enjoy coloring with markers, graphite pencil, photography and
coloring digitally. Recently, I've begun painting as well.

Aside from drawing, I like to spend time with my
dog. Risa is a 4-year old mixed breed I rescued
from the shelter. We enjoy many activities from
walks along nature trails to advanced obedience.
She really enjoys canine freestyle and I hope to get
her started in agility soon.
I also share my life with two guinea pigs.
